We did not initially set out to help companies save money by controlling the cost, damage and environmental impact of water waste inside their properties. We did it because we wanted to avoid the cost and environmental impact of expanding a wastewater treatment plant.
If we could help operations avoid unnecessary water use and contamination in their operations, we would avoid a lot of downstream costs and environmental impact. Instead of crunching numbers and adjusting equipment, we worked inside the facility with operators, facility teams and service providers to eliminate the water use and contamination that was not
necessary to operate the facility well. At first, we saw it as an extension of our environmental engineering work. Soon we realized the engineering was a minor part of the evolving solution. The human and operational management insights made it easier to connect process and procedure improvements to existing routines. Improvements in measurement, reporting and front-line feedback allowed efficiency program to scale cost effectively.
The cost avoidance approach worked but it changed us. When we looked at problems from the perspective of developing a solution that helps operators thrive, a number of other disconnected costs became controllable. Over time we realized this "Solution Mindset" was actually prioritizing operational and human design criteria in a way that changed our traditional "Engineering/equipment" approach to complex problems. The results were lower costs, quicker results and less complexity for operators.
After 30 years of water management work inside of Fortune 500 companies, there is one undeniably truth:
"Controlling waste must be easy or it will not happen."
For corporate water efficiency, we have standardized what works into a four step formula that is easy to start, clear on what should be done and knowledgeable on how best to do it. Our solution approach provides clarity required for executives to understand their situation and see the path that makes sense given their specific situation.
Our tools, modules and standardized approach were refined across decades of consulting and project appointments in water, wastewater and the water efficiency space, including significant international project experience.
For organizations with a water goal, a desire to avoid costs or a need to deliver on sustainability promises, contacting us to discuss your situation has no cost and it will help you avoid the cost of doing nothing or the wrong thing.
